How to use Candle Sand:

1. Pour granules into a heat-safe container.
2. Insert wick, leaving 0.5cm above surface. Use multiple wicks for larger vessels.
3. Light and enjoy!

After burning, let the wax cool. Flip it with attached sand to reuse. Bury melted wax, keeping wick 0.5cm above surface. When wick is done, remove hardened wax. Shake to level sand or store for later

Candle Sand by Soja Fragrances:

1. High melting point for safe, long-term use
2. Long-lasting wicks (up to 12 hours each)
3. All-natural, biodegradable plant wax
4. Scent-free
5. 300g pack: 15 wicks

Minimum vessel size: 10cm width, 10cm depth. Smaller vessels may reduce burn time and wax will bind to the edges.

Safety: Use heat-safe vessels. You can add a few drops of your favourite essential oil or candle fragrance oil close to the wick BEFORE lighting it.

Please do so at your own risk and comfort level, keeping in mind that oils are highly flammable and should never be added to a burning candle. You'll find that some oils work better than others, so experiment carefully until you find ones that work well.

Frequently Asked Questions

Made of millions of tiny wax granules, Candle Sand can breathe new life into your favourite old candle jars or transform large decorative bowls. The possibilities are endless!

Candle Sand's unique granular structure allows it to conform to any shape or size, making it versatile for a wide range of applications.

Your imagination is the only limit.

Wondering which containers are safe to use with Soja Candle Sand? Fireproof containers are recommended, but it's possible to also use other containers safely as long as they're big enough.

The key is to prevent the melt pool from reaching the container edge and to keep the container from heating up while burning. Generally, that means 10cm minimum container width at the narrowest part but test it carefully and make sure it's not heating up while burning.

Also, make sure to have at least 5cm of sand around each wick (use only one wick in a 10cm wide container!), and least 3cm between the bottom of the wick and the container bottom.

Each wick lasts around 12 hours and you get 15 wicks with every 300gm canister.

Nope, you can relight the same wick multiple times and burn it as long as it lasts. Each wick can burn around 12 hours. That said, we give you plenty of wicks with every candle sand so you could refresh your candle as often as you'd like to make it look new again.

You can also cut the wick and re-use the part that hasn't been used yet, or flip the wick to bury the melt pool for zero waste while still making your candle look brand new. Keep in mind cutting the wick will shorten the burn time.

No, when the wick gets close to running out, it simply falls over into the melt pool and self-extinguishes. This means if you accidentally leave your Soja candle sand burning (which we of course do not recommend since it’s still real fire), the flame will go out after about 12 hours.

We recommend to leave at least 3cm of space between the bottom of the wick and the container, which means the wick will self-extinguish before the heat reaches the container.

Absolutely! Our sand is made from highly purified plant-based wax, burning cleanly with minimal smoke or soot. It does not contain paraffin or any known allergens.

You can also take comfort knowing that candle sand self-extinguishes if accidentally spilled, as the sand snuffs out the flame. It also self-extinguishes if accidentally left burning long-term, as the wick will eventually fall over and "drown" in the melt pool.

Safety instructions

Fireproof containers are recommended, but it is possible to safely use other containers. Just make sure they're large enough to keep the melt pool away from the edge and prevent the container from heating up during use. Generally, that means 10cm minimum container width at the narrowest part but test it carefully and make sure it's not heating up while burning.

How to insert the cotton wick

Insert the wick with only a 0.5cm tip sticking out of the sand, just enough to light it. Make sure to have at least 5cm of sand around the wick and at least 3cm of sand under the wick.

don't waste the wick!

After burning, allow the wick to cool, then flip it with the attached sand to reuse. Bury the melted wax into the sand, ensuring the wick is 0.5cm above the surface. When the wick is finished, remove the hardened wax. Shake to level the remaining sand or store it for later use.

Adding fragrance

If you choose to add fragrance such as essential oils, add a few drops close to the wick BEFORE lighting it. Please do so at your own risk and comfort level, keeping in mind that oils are highly flammable and should never be added to a burning candle. You'll find that some oils work better than others, so experiment carefully until you find ones that work well.
