The words “cleanse your home” might make you think only of crystals or burning sage, but, without putting proper practices in place first, you won't get the full benefit from a energetically cleansed home. What I’m talking about is the way that our emotional baggage gets stored in our homes, often hiding in plain sight, and how clearing out our homes can help us feel more positivity and ease at home.
CLEAN THE CUPBOARDS
You need to start from the inside to out, meaning imagine putting your house on a health regime. You need to start by flushing out the toxins before you begin your journey of new health.
OUT WITH THE OLD
If you have not used it in 12 months - chuck it!
That’s right, you heard me, if you haven't used an item in the last 12 months and it serves you no purpose. Donate it, sell it or give it away!
TIME TO CLEAN
Move the furniture, move the bed and give it a good clean from top to toe. I recommend doing a wet dust - meaning rinse a microfibre cloth in warm water and give everything a good wipe down, then go over it will a dry cloth. Wipe your skirting boards, clean the windows and wash or wipe your blinds.
THE WASHING
Strip your bed, strip the cushions on the couch, and wash the throw rugs. Invest in a good laundry liquid, I love the Adairs Aroma Wash, my clothes smell amazing and feel so squeaky clean when they come out of the wash. The Aroma Wash for White Sheets is especially great for white sheets (umm, yes that makes sense) and white clothes. *I have no affiliation with Adairs.
THE KITCHEN
Start with the pantry - check expiry dates, you will be surprised at how many things you have in there that are out of date, believe it or not even canned food expires so make sure you check those too. Wipe your pantry shelves, and invest in some good storage containers, Kmart have great options. Next declutter the rest of the kitchen, check you have matching lids with all of your containers, clean out that junk drawer and deep clean around the rubbish bin.
THE BATHROOM
Mould can quickly accumulate in the bathroom especially if ventilation is poor. Scrub the shower (you choose your product), clean around any silicone areas and wipe your ceiling fan, I bet you it is full of dust. Wipe down inside cupboards and clear out any moisturisers or old makeup.
